Pastels At The Hilton Fishing Pier by Ola Allen
I love capturing sunsets at the Hilton Pier in Newport News, Virginia, because most of them are as mystical as they are magical. So, with camera in hand, I ventured to the pier on a cold January evening.
Once there, my eyes surveyed the skies for signs of color and cloud activity and finally focused on a few thin, wispy strands of cirrus clouds. That being the case, I was not very optimistic about them putting on a glorious scene at sunset that evening.
How wrong was I that evening!!! At sunset, the thin wispy clouds slowly mingled and mixed with the colors of the sunlight and spread across the sky and river painting them with magical brushstrokes of soft pink pastels with lines of blue. Several photographers, fishermen and I stood in silent awe; taking in the magnificent power of God and the glorious beauty of a sunset. I will always remember the splendid beauty of that evening.
